Tokimeki Memorial 02October 26, 2006
Tokimeki Memorial, also with more winking now.
The second episode was surprising enjoyable. From the preview of the first episode I was afraid of a boring episode featuring weird male characters of interestinglessness. Somehow this still happens, but the pace of the episode was fast enough and the characters where not as annoying as I feared. The silliness level of this episode was also more bearable than the last one and quite entertaining this time.
To the story: Riku’s performance last time impressed the four big leaders of the sport clubs of the school. Three of them decide to challenge him.
If he loses he’ll have to join their club. The fourth one won’t do this because she is the leader of the girl’s volleyball team. Riku somehow manages to beat them all through unwittingly exploiting their individual weaknesses.
Ryouiki Kamino, captain of the track club, gets beaten with the help of Riku’s friends because of his urge to “run beautifully”.
Koayu Utsumi, captain of the swimming club, gets beaten because of her sensibility about her, uhhh… “assets”.
Ichiro Ishiuchi, captain of the baseball club, gets beaten straight in the face.
Beside these events we are shown some sweatiness
and sweetness of girls
and at the end of the episode Riku has a (fateful?) meeting with Tsukasa Kasuga.
After helping her up
she is deeply in love with him and decides that they are destined to be lovers.
Things of notice:
– This short sequence is interesting because the design of some girls shown differs from the rest of the time.
Especially the girl on the left with the black stockings and the one on the right which isn’t as slim as the other girls stand out.
– I liked how Riku’s friends used the given opportunities in this scene.
– Where are the kemonomini accessories from last time?
– Where are the weird teachers from last time? (Well, I don’t really miss them, so it’s okay)
– 856*480 is superior to 704*396. Thanks C1 Anime!
